Mediterraneo is a family fish taverna in Manesco, near the entrance of Gaios. It first opened in 1997, by a family intimately connected with the sea and fish. It is a nice and quiet place, traditionally decorated and surrounded by pergolas and palm trees.
From inside the taverna you can enjoy the beautiful view of the old Gaios port and the island of St.Nicholas, which is right across. The place can also be used for hosting banquets.
At Mediterraneo, you can taste anything that comes from the sea, always fresh and cooked using clean Greek ingredients. The fish of the day are cooked a la Livorenze (with olives, cherry tomatoes, capers and olive oil). For example, you can have the Risotto with Cuttlefish (optionally cooked in its ink) and fresh handmade Ravioli stuffed with fish. You can also enjoy the Greek classics, such as Linguini with Seafood and the local specialty Scorpio Bourdeto. All dishes are created by the owner of the taverna, who is also the main chef, and in the summertime he works alongside an Italian chef.
You can also choose from a variety of cool or warm salads. Some very good choices are: the Arugula and Crab Salad, the Seafood Salad and the Fruit Salad. Another excellent choice would be the fresh Boiled Greens served with local olive oil.
No meal is complete without a dessert, so don’t hesitate to try one of Mediterraneo’s delicious desserts like Orange Pie, Mosaic or the outstanding Chocolate Soup served with ice cream.
